Job Title: Youth Pastor / Youth Director
Hours: Part-Time [20 hours], On Site & Flexible Work
Supervisor: Pastor
Direct Reports: Volunteer Leaders, Youth Interns
Job Overview:
The Youth Director is responsible for the leadership and development of ministries that help students and families find and follow Jesus on their level. They implement, prepare and ensure quality curriculum and irresistible experiences, while overseeing volunteer team leaders to multiply our reach.
Three Primary Buckets:
- Investing in students and families
- Volunteer scheduling, care & communication
- Curriculum & event planning and material preparation
Responsibilities: (Include but are not limited to the following)
- Create fun & exciting environments for middle/high school students to develop their faith
- Oversee all One Youth large group & small group leaders, and event volunteers
- Shepherd and recruit a strong community of volunteers with successful management, training, communication, appreciation and care
- Oversee the selection or creation of quality curriculum that is delivered with excellence
- Invest in personal discipleship through regular one-on-one mentoring with students
- Manage the leadership & fundraising of mission trip, summer camp, and youth events
- Monitor safety of all minors and volunteers through appropriate practices and screenings
- Connect with students and families through social media and digital communication
- Plan and oversee One Youth budget with strategic goals in coordination with Pastor
- Pursue active engagement and outreach with unchurched students and families in Central Michigan, in partnership with other NextGen staff and leadership teams
Requirements:
- Model a growing personal relationship with Jesus
- Proven experience in volunteer or vocational roles that involve working with children
- Ability to pass a background check
- Excellent verbal and written communication: Comfortable with large groups of people
- A natural passion for connecting with and discipling youth and families
- Be fully committed to the mission, vision, and values of Thrive Church
- Participate in necessary meetings, 4x4’s, and project management
- A personal commitment to leadership development
- A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13, Titus 1:5-9)
