Job Overview:
The Youth and Discipleship Pastor will lead, develop, and oversee ministries that disciple youth (grades 7–12) and support the spiritual growth of the church body. This role is focused on cultivating a Christ-centered culture of discipleship through teaching, mentoring, and equipping students, volunteers, and adult members for spiritual formation and service. The ideal candidate is relational, passionate about the next generation, and committed to developing disciples of Jesus at all stages of life.
Primary Responsibilities:
Youth Ministry (60%)
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the youth ministry, including midweek gatherings, Sunday mornings, special events, and camps.
- Develop and teach biblically sound, engaging messages and curriculum relevant to middle and high school students.
- Build relationships with students, parents, and volunteers to foster community and spiritual growth.
- Recruit, train, and equip a team of adult and student volunteers for youth ministry leadership.
- Plan and coordinate youth outreach and service opportunities that connect students to the broader mission of the church.
- Provide pastoral care to students and families through mentoring, counseling, and crisis support.
Discipleship Ministry (30%)
- Leadership and oversight of small group ministry of Living Grace.
- Recruiting, training, resourcing, developing small group leaders.
- Development and implementation of a ‘small group care protocol’ where small group leaders form the first step in caring for the congregation.
- Development of a small group ‘rhythm’ for Living Grace.
- Developing a strategy for growing our small group ministry in congregational participation, in offerings, and in leadership development.
- Researching, evaluating, previewing small group materials.
General Pastoral Duties (10%)
- Participate in staff meetings, church-wide initiatives, and worship services.
- Assist in preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and other ministry duties as assigned.
- Uphold the vision and values of Living Grace and contribute to the overall health and unity of the church.
Qualifications:
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing relationship with Him.
- A calling to pastoral ministry, particularly in the areas of youth and discipleship.
- Bachelor's degree in ministry, theology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in youth ministry or discipleship leadership (preferably in a local church context).
- Strong communication and teaching skills.
- Proven ability to lead, recruit, and empower volunteers.
- Relational, approachable, and team-oriented.
- Doctrinal alignment with the FEC Statement of Faith.
Work Schedule & Compensation:
- Full-time salaried position. Flexible schedule negotiable with Lead Pastor and Elder approval. Weekends required, some evenings.
- Compensation package includes salary, health benefits, paid vacation, and ministry expenses.
